\My Downstairs Neighbor Asked Me to Be Quieter at Night, but I Have Not Been Home for the past Week
Upon returning from a week-long camping trip, Piper was eager to reunite with her husband, Matthew. However, as she unpacked, their neighbor Mrs. Peterson complained about noise from their apartment. Confused, Piper confronted Matthew.
“I have to be home, Piper,” Matthew had said before her trip, citing work commitments. Despite her offer for him to join, he insisted she go and enjoy herself.
Back home, Piper felt rejuvenated until Mrs. Peterson approached her. “For the past week, I could barely sleep,” Mrs. Peterson complained, noting loud noises from Piper’s apartment. Piper, surprised, assured Mrs. Peterson she hadn’t been home.
Confronting Matthew, Piper asked, “What the hell is going on, and who were you making so much noise with?” Matthew, looking guilty, confessed, “I’m not having an affair. I lost my job a few months ago and rented out our apartment to make money while staying at Trent’s place.”
Relieved but concerned, Piper asked, “So, the noise was from the people who rented out the place?” Matthew confirmed, apologizing for not telling her sooner. “I didn’t want you to worry.”
Piper reassured him, “We’re a team, Matthew. We can deal with this together.”
They discussed their future, with Matthew actively seeking new job opportunities. Piper explained everything to Mrs. Peterson, who offered her understanding and support.
Ultimately, Piper and Matthew reaffirmed their commitment to each other, planning their next steps together.
