Melissa McCarthy, 53, Sparks Clashing Reactions as She Shows off Figure in Metallic Dress after Weight Loss

At a recent entertainment industry event, Melissa McCarthy turned heads with her outfit, sparking a mix of admiration and debate among social media users. McCarthy, who has opened up about experiences from her past concerning self-acceptance and the fashion industry, became a hot topic on social platforms.

Melissa McCarthy, 53, recently showcased a striking look that captivated public attention at this year’s SAG Awards. For her attire, she adorned a figure-hugging, long silver metallic dress complete with ruched puffed sleeves, which she paired with white and silver rings, silver earrings, and a matching silver purse.

Her appearance following her apparent weight loss elicited concern from one observer who noted, “She doesn’t look herself 😢.” Criticism also came from others who were disappointed with the dress’s design.

“I love Melissa and now no one hate me for what I am about to say. But she has worked so hard to get into shape but then they put her in these voluminous sleeves. Could have done better,” asserted someone. Another added, “She looks great, but that dress is a NOOOOO. Not flattering to her at all.”

On the other hand, many rallied in support of McCarthy and showered her with compliments. “You looked AMAZING!!!!!! ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️,” “Wow, you looked gorgeous @melissamccarthy 😍🖤,” “Chic 🖤,” and “Not a better, kinder celebrity out there. She’s great and is wearing that dress beautifully!!!” were among the flattering remarks she received, showcasing the admiration and respect she elicits from her fans.

Years before dazzling the crowd with her glamorous gown, designed by Puey Quiñones, McCarthy faced rejection from designers. In a 2014 interview recalling a challenging time, McCarthy revealed, “Two Oscars ago, I couldn’t find anybody to do a dress for me. I asked five or six designers—very high-level ones who make lots of dresses for people—and they all said no.”
