A ‘new name’ in her career
Malia Obama, daughter of former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, recently debuted her directorial work, “The Heart,” at the Sundance Film Festival, opting to be known as Malia Ann.
Born on July 4, 1998, Malia chose her middle name in honor of her late grandmother. After graduating from Harvard, she pursued screenwriting.
At Sundance, under her stage name, Malia Ann, she showcased her film and walked the red carpet. Malia’s journey into the film industry began with her writing contributions to the Amazon Prime show “Swarm,” earning praise from collaborators like Janine Nabers and Stephen Glover.
Despite her famous background, Malia is treated equally within creative teams, as emphasized by Glover. Both Barack and Michelle Obama expressed pride in Malia’s achievements, celebrating her talent and growth on social media.
