Sophia Loren, 84, is wheelchair-bound, frail, and barely recognizable.
Hollywood legend Sophia Loren has been pictured looking remarkably different for her role in the new film, The Life Before Us. The 84-year-old actress, confined to a wheelchair for the part, was seen filming in Bari, Italy, in a crimson dress with a gold floral pattern and a red shawl. Her hair was messy, making her barely recognizable.
Large crowds gathered to watch Loren, directed by her son Edoardo Ponti, in action. The film, adapted from the Romain Gary novel, features Loren as a woman caring for prostitutes’ children. Filming will continue at various locations, with production expected to wrap up in August.
This marks Loren’s first major film appearance since 2014’s La Voce Umana. Starting her career at 16, she gained fame with a five-picture contract with Paramount in 1956, leading to roles in The Pride and the Passion, Houseboat, and It Started in Naples. In 1962, she became the first actress to win an Oscar for a foreign-language performance in Two Women. Loren, a star from Hollywood’s Golden Age, continues to inspire with her enduring legacy and resilience.
